Nasal Reconstruction after Injury

Overview

A broken nose that healed crooked, or a nose damaged by an accident, can affect both appearance and breathing. Reconstruction restores the shape and the airway, sometimes in stages.

Nasal Reconstruction after Injury
Our approach to care

Examination and, where needed, imaging show which bones and cartilage have moved and whether the septum is involved.

Early fractures are reduced in clinic or under a short anaesthetic. Established deformities are corrected by septorhinoplasty, with grafts if cartilage has been lost.

Once healed, the nose is protected from further knocks: no contact sport for six weeks and a guard for longer if you play. Any lingering blockage is reassessed rather than assumed to be permanent.

Your first visit takes about 45 minutes: a conversation about what bothers you, an examination of the nose inside and out with a small endoscope, and standardised photographs. You leave with a clear explanation of what surgery can and cannot change, and time to decide.
