A Story of Expert Care at KCH-Jeddah

We recently welcomed a brave little fighter into the world in King’s College Hospital Jeddah He was diagnosed before birth with gastroschisis—a rare abdominal wall defect—this baby was delivered safely at 36 weeks via normal vaginal delivery at KCH-Jeddah

Our dedicated NICU and Pediatric Surgery teams, at one of the best specialty clinics in Jeddah and the region,  were ready and waiting. Immediately after birth, they took every step to protect the exposed bowel and prevent fluid loss.

What makes this case unique?
King’s College Hospital-Jeddah is the only specialist center in Saudi Arabia equipped with a SILO bag—a specialized method for safely reducing abdominal contents back into the belly in stages. Over 8 days, the bowel loops were carefully repositioned, followed by successful surgical repair on day 9.

With full support of one of the best NICU teams in the region, including Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and expert neonatal care, the baby grew stronger every day.

At just 7 weeks old, this little one was healthy, fully feeding, circumcised, and ready to head home!

Another success story made possible by our internationally trained and highly skilled team at the advanced neonatal care institute at KCH-Jeddah, making us one of the best Pediatric centres in Jeddah and the region
