Dr. Pablo is a consultant surgeon specializing in complex proctology, pelvic floor disorders, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases, and advanced minimally invasive techniques. He practices at King’s College Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he is actively developing advanced colorectal services with a holistic approach.
He earned both his MD and PhD with honors from the University of Granada in Spain. His doctoral research in experimental liver transplantation was completed under Professor Konrad Messmer at Munich’s Institute for Surgical Research, a prestigious European center for surgical innovation.
Dr. Pablo completed his surgical training across several German university hospitals, culminating in an intensive fellowship at Mannheim Medical Centre (University of Heidelberg), a leading center for oncologic surgery. He trained under esteemed mentors such as Professor J. Girona in coloproctology and Professor S. Post in surgical oncology. He went on to earn dual board certifications: the European Board in Coloproctology and the German Board in Surgical Oncology.
Upon returning to Spain, Dr. Pablo served for nearly a decade as Head of the Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery and as an Associate Professor at the University of Granada in Andalusia. He later led the Department of General and Digestive Surgery at CST University Hospital and served as an Associate Professor at the International University of Catalonia (UIC), both in Barcelona.
An academic surgeon at heart, Dr. Pablo has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and abstracts. His work is widely cited in the scientific community. His current research interest focuses on clinical colorectal oncology, with special emphasis on total neoadjuvant therapy, organ preservation, and multidisciplinary protocols.
