Biography

Dr. May Abu-Ateeg is a highly experienced consultant general pediatrician with a distinguished career spanning over three decades. She has held various leadership and clinical roles in Saudi Arabia and Iraq, showcasing her expertise in pediatric and neonatal care, medical education, and clinical governance. Since January 2010, Dr. May has served as a consultant general pediatrician at the International Medical Center, where she has been the chairman of the Professional Education & Research Committee in the Pediatric Department since 2013 and the chairman of the Pediatric Department from February 2017 to June 2023. Additionally, she is a member of the Hospital Credentialing and Privileging Committee and the Hospital Clinical Guideline Committee, responsible for developing and auditing clinical guidelines within her department.

Prior to her role at the International Medical Center, Dr. May worked as a consultant pediatrician and neonatologist at Dr. Bakhsh Hospital Al Sharafia from June 2005 to December 2009, where she served as the head of the Department of Pediatrics and NICU and was the medical director assistant for quality control and provision of standard care. Before that, she was a consultant pediatrician and neonatologist at New Jeddah Clinic Hospital from December 1999 to 2005, also leading the Department of Pediatrics and NICU from 2002 to 2005. Dr. May’s extensive experience and leadership in pediatric healthcare have made her a respected figure in the medical community.
