Dr. Omer Javed
Section Head Hematology and Blood Bank, Consultant Hematologist
Biography.
Dr. Omer Javed is a Consultant Haematologist/Hematopathologist with over a decade of experience in malignant haematology, hematopathology, coagulation and bleeding disorders, transfusion medicine, clinical transfusion practice, cellular therapy, and translational haematology research. He specializes in advanced haematology diagnostics integrating multiparametric flow cytometry, morphology, cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics, and clinical correlation for precision leukaemia diagnostics, MRD-driven disease monitoring, and complex hematopathology reporting aligned with contemporary WHO hematolymphoid classifications. His expertise spans acute leukaemias, lymphoproliferative disorders, bone marrow pathology, immunophenotyping, hemoglobinopathies, immunohematology, and advanced transfusion medicine, including antibody identification, transfusion safety systems, therapeutic apheresis, and CAP- and AABB-aligned blood bank leadership. In addition to his clinical and diagnostic expertise, Dr. Javed has a strong academic and teaching background with extensive involvement in postgraduate haematology education, multidisciplinary healthcare teaching initiatives, laboratory competency development, and adaptive learning–based educational projects within healthcare systems. He has led and contributed to multiple laboratory establishment and expansion projects, including flow cytometry services, transfusion medicine programs, quality systems, and translational diagnostic platforms. With a significant research footprint, he has authored multiple publications in MRD, pediatric leukaemia, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and rare hematologic disorders. His current professional focus is directed toward the integration of artificial intelligence into haematology and transfusion medicine and laboratory medicine, including AI-assisted flow cytometry analytics, digital hematopathology, automated antibody interpretation systems, adaptive learning models, and clinical decision-support platforms aimed at advancing precision diagnostics and scalable haematology solutions globally.
