King's College Hospital is founded in London.

1877

Joseph Lister, a pioneer of antiseptic surgery, joins King's, and his methods earn the hospital an international reputation.

1921

Percy Lane Oliver founds the world's first voluntary blood donor service, answering a call from King's.

1973

Endomyocardial biopsy is pioneered at King's College Hospital.

1986

King's opens one of the first bone marrow transplant programmes in South London.

2005

The UK's first clinically successful islet transplantation in a patient with type 1 diabetes.

2008

The UK's first epimacular brachytherapy is performed at King's College Hospital.

2009

King's Health Partners is established, uniting research, education, and clinical care.

2025

King's College Hospital London opens in Jeddah.
